Rhinelander soccer: Hodags want to continue making history

On Saturday, Rhinelander earned the program's first ever trip to the state soccer tournament with a 4-0 sectional final win over River Falls.

Rhinelander head coach Dan Millot has been coaching the Hodags for 19 years, and he's seen the program evolve over the course of his tenure. Now he and his girls can say their one of the top four teams in Division 2.
Although the Hodags have already made history, they're focused on making their first state appearance even sweeter.

"Not only have we made it to state but we're playing really good team soccer right now, both offensively and defensively," said Coach Millot. "We know that we've got a even tougher road ahead of us and we just want to go down there and put on our best.

"I'm incredibly proud for our seniors," rejoiced junior midfielder Gabrielle Millot. "We don't want their seasons to end just yet. We want to make history and we want to do it in the best way possible."

The Hodags will play Waunakee in a Division 2 state semifinal on Friday at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
