This week Wausau is a hot spot for music and performers are lighting up the stage at the Wisconsin Valley Fair.
Newsline 9 had backstage access and met with Wednesday night's performer, Thomas Rhett, a country music star.
Rhett says leaving it all out on the stage is something he loves to do, especially in Wisconsin.
"Everytime we come to this state we just know there's going to be rowdy fans and we love coming here," said Rhett.
Rhett says his band all like to get in the same mindset before every show.
"Me and the band, we all get in a circle pray before we get on stage and that's kind of all we do," said Rhett. "We've been doing that since day one."
Rhett and his crew aren't the only ones who arrived early to the show on Wednesday, so did his fans.
"I like his songs and like the rhythm and beat to it," said Gracelyn Gittens of Antigo.
Rhett says he hope to win over new fans with his showmanship.
He says that's something he learned from his dad, country star Rhett Akins.
"It's a very cool support system and it's fun having him on the road having him watch me play shows and kind of see how the roles have reversed a little bit," said Rhett.
Now, Rhett says he's enjoying making a name for himself.
"Hopefully after tonight's show we get to make some people believe in us and like us a little bit more," said Rhett.
Newsline 9 was a proud sponsor of Thomas Rhett's performance.
Thursday night the band Skillet takes the stage at the Wisconsin Valley Fair.
